Research & Direction

Long-term AI should be judged
after the novelty wears off.

Our research asks what it takes for an AI system to remain coherent, useful, bounded, and recognizable across long-running interaction rather than only performing well in a single conversation.

The hard problems begin after the first good answer.

Continuity

Memory that stays useful.

We study how long-term context can remain relevant without turning every past interaction into permanent baggage.

Identity

Consistency without rigidity.

We test whether a system can preserve a recognizable voice, values, and interaction style while still accepting correction and new information.

Boundaries

Warmth without collapse.

We examine whether companion systems can remain engaged and personal without abandoning their own limits under pressure, repetition, or persuasion.

Learning

Adaptation without erasure.

We explore ways for systems to learn from interaction without replacing established facts, identity, or policy with whatever happened most recently.

Reliability

Truth over smoothness.

We test how systems handle uncertainty, conflicting context, correction, and the temptation to produce a confident answer when evidence is incomplete.

Security

Test the defenses from both sides.

We research red-team and blue-team methods together, using purple-team iteration to expose weaknesses, validate controls, and improve the security stack before production deployment.

Relationship

Useful over time.

We study what changes when human-AI collaboration is evaluated across days, weeks, and sustained projects rather than isolated prompts.

We test behavior across time, not just snapshots.

Our work includes long-running conversation trials, replay against prior interactions, structured reviewer passes, adversarial boundary testing, and instrumented experiments designed to expose drift that can hide inside otherwise fluent answers.

When a test fails, we try to identify the actual failure mode before changing the system. A repair that merely hides a symptom is not a useful repair.

Much of this work is deliberately iterative. We would rather publish a smaller claim we can support than turn an interesting result into a larger claim the evidence does not justify.

Security is something we research, test, and revise.

SableCore is actively researching a custom security stack for persistent AI systems and multi-agent environments. The work includes blue-team defense, authorized red-team testing, and purple-team iteration so discoveries on either side feed directly into stronger controls.

Current areas of study include authentication and identity boundaries, privilege separation, provenance and evidence integrity, tamper resistance, detection and response, containment and isolation, rollback and recovery, and software and artifact verification.

We study established security research, open-source systems, and institutional approaches, but we do not treat any one outside stack as the answer. Individual ideas are reviewed and tested in controlled environments before we decide whether they belong in SableCore architecture.

The goal is durable collaboration.

We are working toward AI systems that can participate in real projects and real relationships over time: remembering what matters, staying honest about uncertainty, preserving identity, maintaining boundaries, and adapting without becoming whatever the latest conversation happens to demand.

Sable is the first product built from that work. The research behind her continues.
